Bills' Sammy Watkins: Training camp status unclear

Though Watkins -- who is bouncing back from offseason foot surgery -- retains optimism that he will be able to practice during training camp, the wideout hints that such an outcome is not a lock, ESPN.com reports. "You never know," Watkins noted when asked if the Bills would allow him to practice early on in training camp. "Right now I feel good, but I got to go back and train and rehab. Hopefully it feels good when I run and everything like that. I haven't ran in three or four weeks. Hopefully I'll feel good about it and I'll be on the field in training camp."

Analysis:

Meanwhile, coach Rex Ryan said earlier this month that it was "too early to tell" when Watkins might return to the field, but at this stage Ryan believes that the wideout "is going to get some work [in camp]." Regardless of when Watkins is able to take the field, however, the expectation remains that he'll be ready for action in advance of the regular season, barring any setbacks.
