Crowder: Redskins have NFL's best receiving corps

A much-improved passing attack was arguably the leading factor behind the Washington Redskins capturing their first NFC East title since 2012.

The 11th-ranked showing wouldn't have been possible were it not for the emergence of Kirk Cousins, but the young quarterback relied heavily on a dynamic group of pass catchers.

With the majority of that group returning for the 2016 campaign, and now bolstered by key additions in free agency and the draft, Jamison Crowder believes Washington's receiving corps is second to none.

"We think that, you know, we're the best in the league," Crowder said in an appearance on ESPN 980, according to Scott Allen of The Washington Post. "Knowing that we've got guys like (DeSean Jackson), Pierre Garcon, like you said, Jordan Reed, he had a great season last year. We even added Vernon Davis at the tight end, but he's still another weapon that can really help us out in the passing game, and Niles Paul and myself, so we feel like we have a really talented group of receivers. ...

"The coaches know that we have a really talented group, we know that we have a really talented group, and I really can't wait to get out there and show the world how talented we are."

Crowder, a fourth-round pick last spring, is primed for the primary slot role heading into his second season.

His continued development, along with the arrival of first-round pick Josh Doctson, should help round out a unit filled with talented veterans both at receiver and tight end.

The 23-year-old appeared in all 16 games as a rookie, starting in six while racking up 59 receptions for 604 yards and two touchdowns.
