Texans' Johnson expects to be ready for camp after offseason surgeries

On track in his recovery from a pair of offseason procedures, Houston Texans cornerback Kevin Johnson expects to be cleared for full participation in training camp next month.

"I'm feeling great, I'm feeling real good," Johnson said, according to Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle. "I'm really excited. I expect to be all-go."

Johnson started 10 of his 16 regular-season appearances, in addition to the club's lone playoff game, after joining the Texans as a first-round pick last spring.

Surgeries to repair a foot fracture and a broken wrist have kept him out from all offseason activities in the several months since.

If indeed healthy in time for camp, Johnson can once again be expected to earn a lead role alongside Johnathan Joseph and Kareem Jackson in Houston's defensive backfield.

Some continued development from Johnson could help that group emerge as a strong complement to a front seven that boasts some of the NFL's most talented pass rushers.
