The Los Angeles Rams will keep quarterback Case Keenum atop the depth chart heading into training camp, despite drafting Jared Goff first overall in April's draft.

The move was confirmed by head coach Jeff Fisher on Thursday, and was expected, as the team hopes Goff will prove worthy of starting immediately without the added pressure of handing him the job in the offseason.

Fisher also said Goff and presumptive third-stringer Sean Mannion would both receive No. 1 reps, according to to Myles Simmons of the team's official website, and the head coach assured media once again that Goff would start when he's ready.

The Rams have been steadfast in their support of Keenum throughout the offseason, even as it became clear they would draft Goff. In March, general manager Les Snead announced Keenum would be the team's starting quarterback.

If Goff proves capable in camp, however, it's likely he'll start immediately, as the Rams hope to develop an elite quarterback in the shortest amount of time possible.

The only remaining outlier in the Rams' QB group is former starter Nick Foles, who remains on the roster but not in the team's plans. A release of Foles is becoming increasingly likely, as the Rams have been unable to trade the unproductive-yet-expensive quarterback.
