Bengals' LaFell compares Andy Dalton to Tom Brady

Brandon LaFell is already thrilled with his new quarterback.

The veteran wide receiver, who joined the Cincinnati Bengals after two years in New England, has been working alongside Andy Dalton throughout the club's offseason schedule.

In that short time, Dalton's done enough for LaFell to be reminded of Patriots star signal-caller Tom Brady.

"If we continue to take the steps we're making, Andy could be a similar player like that," LaFell said at minicamp Wednesday, according to Coley Harvey of ESPN.

Comparing Dalton to a surefire future Hall of Famer may seem like a stretch, but LaFell points to leadership and intelligence, among other things, in justifying the high praise.

"Everybody respects him just like everybody respects Brady," LaFell said. "How Brady demanded the best out of everybody, Andy's doing the same thing here. Both of those guys are smart guys. They always have the offense in the right play. They're always getting the ball to the right person at the right time. They're two different offenses, but both of those guys are winners."

Dalton was in the midst of a career-best season in 2015 before suffering a broken thumb in Week 14.

The Bengals will hope the addition of LaFell provides a reliable target opposite A.J. Green, thus keeping Dalton in a position to continue his development this fall.
