Cowboys' Andy Jones: Running with the first team

Jones saw some work with the first-team offense during the team portion of minicamp, David Helman of the Cowboys' official site reports.

Analysis:

Jones, an undrafted wideout from FCS-level Jacksonville University, received the highest signing bonus of all of Dallas' UDFA signings, and was reportedly one of only a few in that group the team had actually given a draftable grade. Looking ahead to 2016, Dez Bryant, Terrance Williams and Cole Beasley seem to be the only Cowboy wideouts entrenched atop the depth chart, leaving Jones to jockey with the likes of Devin Street, Brice Butler, and Lucky Whitehead, among others, for position behind the established triad. At the very least, for Jones, taking reps with the first team is a step in the right direction toward securing a roster spot.
