Harrison will take any role with Steelers if it means 1 more ring

Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker James Harrison thinks he might be able to play until he's 40, but at 38, he's just focused on earning another ring before his playing days are done.

Harrison led the team last season with 5.5 sacks despite only starting one game, but said he's prepared to take on any role in the Steelers' defense in 2016 if it means earning the third Super Bowl title of his career.

"I want to be used however they want to use me ... I need another ring," Harrison told reporters Wednesday. "That's the only number I care about."

Harrison flirted with the idea of retirement before announcing his decision to return for a 14th season in the NFL at the start of May. However, the linebacker now feels like he could play until he's 40.

"If you ask me that now, yeah (I can). But that's something I'll deal with. I don't know if I want to go that far, even though it's only a couple of years away."

Following his decision to continue his career, Harrison caused a stir by filming one of his drug tests - something that isn't strictly prohibited by the league, but technically isn't allowed since players cannot bring in any items other than the collection cup when giving their specimen.

The former undrafted free agent has been critical of the NFL's drug testing procedure in the past, but Harrison said he supports it, even revealing the extent the league will go to conduct a test.

"I like it. I think they need to do more of it. They are taking blood. They need to do all of that. They can test you up to 20-30 times in the offseason. I just find it funny, the timing. I was at my Hall of Fame induction at college, they came there. They came to my mom's house. They'll come wherever you're at."
