Bears' Wilson to undergo foot surgery, could start season on PUP list

Chicago Bears wide receiver Marquess Wilson will be forced to undergo surgery next week after re-fracturing his foot in practice Tuesday, the team announced.

A timeline for his recovery hasn't yet been set, but head coach John Fox indicated Wilson could start the season on the physically unable to perform list.

Wilson missed the final five games of the 2015 campaign after first suffering a foot injury in practice ahead of Chicago's Week 13 game. He was sent to injured reserve shortly thereafter and eventually underwent surgery to repair the issue.

Wilson had flashed some ability over the first 11 games of 2015, racking up 28 receptions for 464 yards and one touchdown, but he'll now enter his fourth season at a disadvantage when it comes to the competition at receiver.

The injury all but locks in Alshon Jeffery, Kevin White, and Eddie Royal as Chicago's top three targets in the passing game. Starting the year on the PUP list would force Wilson to miss at least the first six weeks of the regular season.
