Odell Beckham Jr. laments media spotlight

New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. remembers a time when his every move was not followed closely on social media and in gossip columns.

Since his breakout rookie season in 2014, Beckham's star has risen to the point of being romantically linked to one of the Kardashians. After wanting the spotlight so badly, Beckham now says he longs for the days when his on-field game was all that people talked about.

"When I was coming into the league, people were talking about Sammy Watkins and a lot of the other guys in my draft class, and I thought, 'I want to be talked about like that. How come no one's talking about me?'" Beckham said Tuesday. "Now I look back and think, 'Careful what you wish for.'"

Beckham's high profile can be linked to his friendships with people like Drake and Khloe Kardashian, but the 23-year-old believes he would be the subject of rumors and gossip no matter what he did.

"It just comes with the territory," Beckham said. "I feel like I could hide under a rock for 364 days, and then the one day I come out, it's going to be a story. People just need something to talk about sometimes, so..."
