Arizona Cardinals defensive end Calais Campbell is gearing up for a lengthy playoff run and pledged his loyalty to the franchise in a recent interview.

Campbell was drafted by the Cardinals in the second round of the 2008 draft, emerging as one of the NFL's foremost pass-rushers, earning Pro Bowl honors in consecutive seasons.

Entering the ninth year in the NFL, Campbell wants to remain with the club for the rest of his career.

"It's hard to do, and there's a lot of prestige that comes with staying with one team your whole career. … I would really like to be one of those guys that gets a chance to, and, I mean, it's always tough because it's the business side of the game. But I still feel like I'm in the prime of my career, going into Year 9. I'm a veteran, I like to joke around like I'm old, but I feel great - I feel fantastic." Campbell said to NFL.com's Rachel Wenzlaff.

Campbell went to the Super Bowl in his rookie year, where the Cardinals were defeated by the Pittsburgh Steelers. Viewed as one of the leading title candidates, Campbell sees remnants of the 2008 squad in the current iteration.

"I step into a leadership role myself. I think we have some of what I felt in 2008 when we had a chance to really win it; that confidence and just that energy around the locker room, I sense that now, and that feels good because that's rare. It's been eight years. It's my ninth season, and I've only sensed it a few times."

Arizona boasts one of the most talented defenses in the league, and if Campbell can continue to be an all-around force, the franchise may be in line for its first Super Bowl victory.
