in the midst of ongoing contract negotiations, Denver Broncos wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders is trying to ensure that he stays with the team for the rest of his career.

The Broncos reportedly sent Sanders an offer last week, that was countered by his agent, Todd France.

After winning a Super Bowl with the Broncos in February, Sanders hopes to remain with the organization, although he made it clear that he wants to get paid what he feels he's worth.

"Obviously, my heart is in Denver, this city has been so good to me beyond what I can explain," Sanders said to Rod Mackey of 9NEWS. "From the Broncos Huddle, being with you, to going out and seeing in my first year having so many jerseys, and having so many fans out here in this market. It’s just great to me.

"Who knows what’s going to happen with the contract situation. I want to retire a Bronco. I think everyone wants to know, but it’s all about being able to say, 'I'm getting paid what I put out.'"

Broncos general manager John Elway told reporters last week that he aimed to have new deals completed for linebackers Von Miller, Brandon Marshall, along with Sanders, by July.

Sanders is slated to earn $5.6 million in base salary in the final year of his existing contract, after signing a three-year, $15-million deal with the Broncos in March 2014. After putting up consecutive 1,100-plus yard seasons, Sanders is imploring Elway and France to find an agreeable outcome.

"I don't want to go anywhere,” Sanders said. "I've expressed that to Elway. It’s all about just getting the right number. I pray that they do come to the right number. I think I’ve given my heart to this city. I've never left anything on the field."
