Broncos' Kubiak: Anderson 'ready to be an every-down back'
Denver Broncos running back C.J. Anderson has yet to put together a full season of on-field success in his three-year career.
The 25-year-old runner has come on strong towards the end of the last two season for the Broncos, good enough to earn him a four-year, $18-million contract, signed in March.
Anderson has been used primarily as a between-the-tackles running back, trudging out yards as the weather gets colder, but head coach Gary Kubiak believes the back has turned a corner.
"He's ready to be an every-down back," Kubiak told Troy Renck of the Denver Post.
Kubiak also told Renck that Anderson is in the best condition of his career.
Anderson's biggest competition for playing time may be coming from rookie Devontae Booker who said in May, "I want to be one of the best running backs to come out of Denver. I'm not there to carry pads. I'm there to take someone's job."
Anderson wasn't bothered by the comments, responding, "What do people want him to say?"
The former undrafted free agent has tallied 1,607 yards on 338 carries with 13 touchdowns through 35 games in his three-year career with the Broncos.
