Crabtree says Carr reminds him of Favre

Oakland Raiders wide receiver Michael Crabtree believes quarterback Derek Carr is on a Hall of Fame trajectory.

Carr excelled during his second season in the NFL, throwing 32 touchdowns against 13 interceptions while being named to the Pro Bowl.

Crabtree said Carr reminds him of former Green Bay Packers legend Brett Favre, due to his delivery and ability to make plays downfield.

"A gunslinger? He’s always going to be a gunslinger, and I love that,” Crabtree said, according to ESPN's Paul Gutierrez. "An old, Brett Favre-type quarterback. He reminds me of Brett Favre, [and] Brett Favre's one of the greatest players to ever play this game."

Crabtree tied his career-high with 85 receptions last season, adding 922 receiving yards and nine touchdowns in his first year with the Raiders.

Going into their second season together, Crabtree says Carr is doing more in a leadership capacity.

"The guy is amazing. He's got talent. We talk all the time on ways to get better on the field. I feel like he has taken that step, taken control of the offense, doing more managing of the offense," Crabtree said.

Crabtree is confident in both himself and his quarterback, saying that he'd select Carr over any other quarterback in the league.

"The quarterback runs the team,” Crabtree said. "If I had to pick any guy, it would be Derek Carr. I'm just ready to go out there and show the world."

The Raiders are viewed by many prognosticators as a team on the rise, and the Carr-Crabtree duo will be instrumental in the club's attempt to reach the playoffs for the first time since 2002.
