Luck not concerned about contract talks

While Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay is pumping up a potential mega-deal to extend quarterback Andrew Luck, his franchise player isn't too worried about the timeline of the negotiations.

"As far as the importance of getting it done or not, if it happens (before training camp), great," Luck told ESPN's Mike Wells on Thursday. "If it doesn't happen (before training camp), great too. I know I'm a Colt and I'm going to do the best job I can for this team no matter what the situation is. So it doesn't weigh on me."

Luck has been hailed as the next generation's great quarterback and Irsay has been open about his willingness to spend to retain Luck. There's no reason to believe the Colts will let Luck join another team.

"We have a great relationship and I see something getting done," Irsay said. "It's not easy. It's obviously going to be a big number, and we want to make sure the contract is something that's Colt-friendly as we approach even the next decade."
