Romo: 2015 season was anomaly

The Dallas Cowboys sputtered to their worst record since 1989 last year, and Tony Romo vows it won't happen again.

Romo broke his collarbone twice during the ill-fated campaign, accounting for the team's poor season. He took responsibility for the underwhelming campaign and made it clear the club isn't content in the NFC East basement.

"I guess what I'm trying to say, basically, is I feel like last year was an anomaly," Romo told the Cowboys' website. "If we're going to base it all on that, you have to come back and prove differently. But the fact that we went 4-12, whether I was playing or not - we have to do better. I think part of that is me being healthy, I think part of that is guys getting better and improving."

At 36, Romo understands the concern about his long-term health, but chalked up the injuries as a rare and untimely occurrence.

"I understand where I'm at in my career. I also understand that - I was hurt and banged up last year, but it's a collarbone," he said. "I don't think my collarbone is going to be anything that takes you out every year that you play football."

With Romo and Dez Bryant aiming to return to full health, the Cowboys should have their sights set on their second playoff bid in three years.
