Packers' Cobb: 'I'll never be mic'd up again' after lung injury

Green Bay Packers wide receiver Randall Cobb believes the microphone pack strapped to his torso caused the punctured lung he suffered in a playoff game last season - and he doesn't plan to let it happen again.

"I'll never be mic'd up again," Cobb told reporters Thursday.

Cobb coughed up blood after falling hard on his back during the Packers' divisional-round loss to the Arizona Cardinals. He was taken to hospital and diagnosed with a punctured lung.

Cobb said after the game he believed being "mic'd up" contributed to his injury, though it's impossible to verify if the microphone was the primary cause.

"This (microphone) theory isn't anything new," Cobb said. "It's something we've talked about plenty of times. There's no way to prove it, but there's no way to disprove it, either."

Cobb did admit that the audio obtained by recording what players say during games can be compelling.

"If we were going on a Super Bowl run and we had that live feed during the game, it's pretty cool to look back and hear what you're thinking and hear what you're talking about," Cobb said. "It's pretty cool in that instance, but I don't think it's worth the risk."
