Broncos' Marshall will 'absolutely' play under tender if new deal isn't reached

When the Denver Broncos won Super Bowl 50 in February, linebacker Brandon Marshall figured he'd get a pay raise for his efforts.

The Broncos elected not to offer Marshall a full new contract and instead placed a second-round tender on their inside linebacker, which will pay about $2.53 million next year.

The 26-year-old attended the team's offseason workouts in April, despite not signing his tender. While he's still holding out hope for a new deal, he'll play under the tender if need be.

"Absolutely. I have no problem playing the deal out," Marshall told SiriusXM NFL Radio when asked if he'd consider playing without a new contract. "I do want to be here long term, that's what I'm working for, but I have no problem playing it out."

Marshall added he's not focused on the contract talks, letting his agent handle the negotiations, but he feels things are "definitely going well" between his camp and the Broncos.

The four-year veteran had 102 tackles, 1.5 sacks, one interception, and two forced fumbles last season. He'll likely see his workload and responsibilities increase in 2016 with the departure of Danny Trevathan in free agency.
