J.J. Watt could return to practice in the near future, after recovering from groin surgery this offseason.

The reigning Defensive Player of the Year played through multiple tears last season, and underwent a procedure in January.

After working out tirelessly throughout the summer, Watt is optimistic about his return to action.

"I feel really good. As soon as I'm allowed, I'll be out there. Hopefully it's soon," Watt told reporters Tuesday.

The Houston Texans waived offensive lineman David Quessenberry with a non-football injury designation on Tuesday. Quessenberry was diagnosed with cancer in 2014, and Watt provided him with rousing encouragement.

"DQ's one of the strongest guys I know. He is an inspiration," Watt said.

Watt tweeted out a shirtless photo of himself Monday that took the internet by storm. While his post caused a frenzy, Watt wasn't fazed by the additional attention.

"The reaction is what you would expect. People are wild on social media, will say almost anything."
