Ravens' Harbaugh says Richardson needs to work on conditioning

Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh noted that Trent Richardson needs to work on his conditioning following organized team activities.

Richardson signed with the Ravens in April, following an ill-fated stint with the Oakland Raiders. Selected 3rd overall in 2012, Richardson is considered one of the greatest draft busts of the modern era.

Harbaugh remained optimistic about the running back's status but pointed out that he needs to get back into top shape.

"Trent just needs to get healthy," Harbaugh said to ESPN's Jamison Hensley. "I think the workload and the amount of work it takes to be a world-class conditioned athlete is something that he's working on right now. That's what he needs to understand, and that's where he needs to get himself."

Richardson will need to fend off incumbent starter Justin Forsett, along with Javorius Allen, Kenneth Dixon, and Lorenzo Taliaferro for playing time, but Harbaugh is willing to wait and see how he compares against the existing group.

"When he gets himself [in shape], he's got talent," Harbaugh said. "I'm very certain he'll get there. And when he does, we'll be able to evaluate him."
