Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles is trying to replicate with tight end Julius Thomas the type of chemistry he has with receivers Allen Robinson and Allen Hurns.

Thomas, formerly of the Denver Broncos, was signed to be a major contributor as the Jags' highest-paid player, but only recorded 455 yards and five touchdowns during his first season in Jacksonville.

Bortles and Thomas are working in tandem to ensure the tight end returns to form.

"We had a chance this offseason to sit down multiple times, watch film and talk about things," Bortles, who put together an impressive 2015 season, finishing second in passing touchdowns with 35, told ESPN. "Talk about what he wanted from me and what I wanted from him and how we can quickly get on the same page to grow together.

"He’s been unbelievable. He’s obviously a freak athlete and he’s continued to prove that and make plays."

Thomas commanded the high price tag in free agency after back-to-back 12-touchdown seasons with the Broncos, where he got to work with Peyton Manning.

With increased production from Thomas, Jacksonville could possess one of the league's most fearsome offensive units next season.
