Broncos' Mark Sanchez: Aided by experience

Sanchez's experience figures to give him an edge in the Broncos' starting quarterback competition, The Denver Post reports.

Analysis:

Sanchez, who had surgery to repair a torn ligament in his non-throwing hand's thumb earlier this month, participated in seven-on-seven and positional drills along with rookie Paxton Lynch and Trevor Siemian during OTAs this week. Although those two were also able to go through team drills, something Sanchez was unable to do, Sanchez's previous experience as an NFL starter bodes well for him going into training camp. That's when the Broncos' quarterback competition is expected to heat up, and despite not having started a Week 1 game since 2012, Sanchez's veteran status gives him the early leg up on Lynch and Siemian.
