Miami Dolphins linebacker Koa Misi was involved in a violent altercation outside a Fort Lauderdale, Fla. nightclub over the weekend, Adam Beasley of the Miami Herald reports.

Misi, who allegedly struck a man in the head and used his "hands, fist, feet, and teeth," wasn't charged because the victim refused to cooperate with police.

The incident report, obtained by the Miami Herald, indicates the fracas took place around 3:40 a.m. and Misi was briefly detained after attempting to flee the scene.

"We are aware of the reports involving Koa Misi and are continuing to gather information," the Dolphins said in a statement. "We have no further comment at this time."

Beasley also reports a friend indicated Misi was provoked during the incident.

Misi spent three years on probation after a violent 2011 incident left a man with a broken eye socket.
