49ers' Michael Wilhoite: Will get reps with the first-team defense during OTAs

Wilhoite will get an opportunity to line up with the 49ers' first-team defense during OTAs, CSN Bay Area reports.

Analysis:

Gerald Hodges has been getting first-unit reps alongside NaVorro Bowman - as he did on Wednesday as well - but defensive coordinator Jim O'Neil said that Wilhoite will also get reps with the first-unit in an effort to create competition for the job during minicamp. Wilhoite was one of the 49ers' starting middle linebackers in 2015 before he went down with an ankle injury. He signed a one-year deal to stay with the club this offseason.
