Texans' Clowney says he's fully recovered from foot injury

Houston Texans linebacker Jadeveon Clowney says he's fully recovered from a foot injury that held him out of the playoffs.

Clowney missed the Texans' final regular-season game and their wild-card bout against the Kansas City Chiefs due to a Lisfranc injury, but didn't require surgery and said he's now 100 percent. The 23-year-old played in 13 games, recording 40 tackles, 4.5 sacks, a forced fumble and six pass deflections last season.

"I feel great. I got healthy enough to be where I want to be," Clowney said Monday, according to Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle.

Clowney was selected first overall in the 2014 NFL Draft but has failed to live up to lofty expectations thus far, in large part due to a series of injuries.

With two years remaining on his existing contract, the Texans hope Clowney can become one of the key pillars of the defense, playing alongside reigning Defensive Player of the Year J.J. Watt.
