Jaguars GM: Jalen Ramsey 'will play a lot of football' this season

It's currently unclear how much of his rookie season Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback Jalen Ramsey will miss after sustaining a small meniscus tear in his right knee, but general manager Dave Caldwell remains optimistic that his 2016 first-round pick will have a big impact in his first year.

"Jalen will play a lot of football for us this year. It's not anywhere near as severe as Dante's," Caldwell said Saturday, according to Peter King of the Monday Morning Quarterback.

The Jaguars first-round selection from last year, Dante Fowler, was lost for the entire 2015 season after suffering an ACL tear early in the team's offseason.

It appeared that history was repeating itself when Jacksonville announced Thursday that Ramsey would miss an unspecified amount of time because of the knee injury.

An unnamed source told King that the Jaguars' staff are "holding their breath" as Ramsey gets a second opinion on the injury.

Reports have indicated that the 21-year-old could miss anywhere between four-to-six weeks to four-to-six months, depending on the treatment plan he and the Jaguars opt for.
