Report: Foster's trip to Boston didn't include meeting with Patriots

The New England Patriots don't seem to be jumping into the mix for Arian Foster's services.

Though talk of a potential fit surfaced when Foster visited Boston this week, the free-agent running back's stay didn't involve a meeting with the Patriots, reports Mike Reiss of ESPN.

Foster's market has been slow to take shape this offseason as he continues to work his way back from a torn Achilles.

However, Foster is nearing a stage where he'd be able to pass a physical so it may not be long before teams are putting offers on the table, reports CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora.

The Miami Dolphins hosted Foster early in free agency, and the Denver Broncos are reportedly one of several teams to reach out. Any interest from the Patriots would likely depend on the price tag, as Dion Lewis, LeGarrette Blount, James White, and Brandon Bolden already give the club a relatively crowded backfield.

Foster had long established himself as one of the league's most dominant running backs before injuries limited him to just four games in 2015.

Starting 13 regular-season contests the year prior, the four-time Pro Bowler racked up 1,246 yards and eight touchdowns on just 260 carries.
