Patriots' Kraft voices support for potential Raiders move to Vegas

Most NFL owners are still picking sides and weighing their options for the potential of an NFL team moving to Las Vegas, but New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft is done deciding.

On Friday, Kraft told USA Today that he would support Mark Davis and the Oakland Raiders' move to Las Vegas, provided a new stadium deal couldn't be reached in their current location.

"I think it would be good for the NFL," Kraft said. "I know Mark Davis has tried so hard in Oakland. If they won’t do it … I want to support him."

Kraft joins Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones in support of the move. The two are among the most influential owners the NFL has to offer.

The Patriots owner isn't concerned with potential issues surrounding gambling, insisting that today's world and today's NFL have moved past that.

"I came into the league in ’94," said Kraft. "Back then, any exploration of that market was dismissed out of hand. I’m looking where we are today and thinking of the last 10 to 15 years, and the emergence of new media, with Google and Facebook and the like. We’re just living in a different world, technology wise. The risks in Vegas are no longer exclusive to Vegas."

Las Vegas mayor Carolyn Goodman has voiced confidence that her city will soon receive an NFL franchise, whether it be the Raiders, the San Diego Chargers, or another unknown team. There has yet to be a proposal made, but Davis pledged $500 million to a new stadium, pending approval, when meeting with officials in April.
