Buccaneers' Kenny Bell: Will battle for third receiver spot this summer

Bell is among several receivers expected to battle for the third receiver spot in training camp, Scott Smith of the team's official site reports.

Analysis:

The second-year pro spent his rookie season on injured reserve with a hamstring injury, but remained involved by attending all classroom sessions and traveling with the team to road games. In the eyes of Bucs receivers coach/offensive coordinator Todd Monken, that experience-- and the speed he demonstrated as a Nebraska Cornhusker-- figure to serve Bell well in his bid for a third receiver role this summer. "Kenny's got talent," said Monken. "Kenny can run, he can bend, he's athletic, he's really smart. I think he's excited about getting back out there and giving himself a chance to compete. Sure. I think you can always benefit from standing back and watching. I think that helped Kenny. I think he's getting better every day." Incumbents Mike Evans and Vincent Jackson man the top two wideout positions for the Bucs, and veteran Louis Murphy, who served as a third receiver in 2015 before a knee injury ended his season in Week 6, is not expected back on the field until training camp.
