San Francisco 49ers owner Jed York has weighed in on Mercury News reporter Tim Kawakami's claim that York stuck him with a $2,100 restaurant bill.

Kawakami admitted on a recent podcast that he made a bet with York on the 49ers' new stadium (which had yet to open) that he ultimately lost.

He claimed York cashed in by making Kawakami pay for he and his wife's meal at an expensive restaurant. The reporter also claimed the wealthy York doesn't understand how significant a $2,100 bill is to someone with a reporter's salary.

"The bet took place two years ago, and Tim has never shared his concerns about the dinner with me," York said in a statement issued to Pro Football Talk. "I am happy to speak with Tim one-on-one so we can all move forward."

Kawakami doesn't seem to be seeking repayment of the money, so it's likely this issue will soon be put to bed.
