Andrew Luck: 'I have an obligation to keep myself healthy'

For the first three seasons of his NFL career, Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck seemed indestructible.

Despite being one of the most hit passers over that time, he never missed so much as a drive because of injury.

However, that changed in 2015, when Luck was sidelined for nine games due to shoulder and kidney injuries. Without their star player, Indianapolis missed the postseason for the first time since 2011.

With the Colts' future success depending so heavily on Luck staying on the field, the 26-year-old understands he needs to better protect himself for the good of the team.

"I think every year you re-evaluate," Luck said, according to ESPN's Mike Wells. "You're going to change things every year. That's the nature of it. Hopefully you improve every year. I definitely think, like always, I have an obligation to keep myself healthy, not only to myself but to this team."

Luck was able to fully participate in Tuesday's OTAs.

Colts head coach Chuck Pagano said earlier in the offseason that he has to stop playing with a linebacker mentality, but quarterback Brian Schottenheimer created a mixed message by saying the team won't alter his playing style.

With Luck now appearing to be fully healthy, it remains unclear how the Colts will go about keeping him that way.
