Newly signed San Diego Chargers offensive lineman Matt Slauson was unavailable for the beginning of his first set of OTAs with his new team, but that doesn't mean he isn't willing to go great lengths for his new squad.

While most players are delayed due to injuries and contract disputes, Slauson just wanted to bring his truck.

"I love my truck," Sauson told Michael Gehlken of the San Diego Union-Tribune. "I wanted my truck here. I could have had it shipped, but then I'd be without it for a week, and I don't know how much that would cost to get a big truck shipped. I thought, 'I'll just drive.'"

The former Chicago Bears guard drove through parts of Illinois, Iowa, Nebraska, Colorado, Utah, Arizona, Nevada, and eventually California on his 31-hour road trip in his baby: a gray 2-14 Ford F-250 Diesel.

He did not stop for a meal or a hotel. His wife, who is seven-months pregnant, packed him a mix of protein bars, beef jerky, Goldfish crackers, and trail mix. Slauson slept just one hour on the trip, briefly trading driving duties with a friend.

He arrived in San Diego on Saturday, and once his two-year contract was processed on Monday, he was snapping balls to Philip Rivers.
