Chiefs GM says troubled 5th-round pick Tyreek Hill not guaranteed roster spot

Kansas City Chiefs draft pick Tyreek Hill has been under much criticism since being selected in the fifth round after an ugly domestic violence incident with his pregnant girlfriend.

Hill has acknowledged that Chiefs fans "have every right to be mad" at him for his actions and plans to use the incident as a learning experience.

It's quite odd for a player not to make their team as a rookie after being drafted, but Chiefs general manager John Dorsey isn't holding Hill to the same standards as most players.

"What he has to do is he has to continue to receive counseling," Dorsey told Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk. "He has to continue to be in our program, and that’s what it would do. By no chance is he guaranteed a spot on this roster."

Hill is expected to contribute primarily as a kick returner, which could put his roster status in doubt. If Hill doesn't show signs of production early, he may be shown the door as the Chiefs already have Knile Davis, Frankie Hammond, and De'Anthony Thomas on the roster as experienced returners.
