The Baltimore Ravens have signed free-agent cornerback Jerraud Powers, the team announced Friday.

The seven-year veteran joins the club on a one-year contract worth $1.75 million, a source told Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

Powers hit the open market in March after spending the last three seasons with the Arizona Cardinals. He started in 40 games for one of the league's top defenses over that stretch, tallying five interceptions and 35 passes defensed.

The 28-year-old adds some much-needed experience to Baltimore's new-look defensive backfield heading into 2016. With Lardarius Webb expected to transition to safety, Powers should be among several cornerbacks competing for a starting job opposite Jimmy Smith in training camp.
