Buccaneers' Aguayo has never kicked in cold weather

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers didn't receive much praise for trading their third- and fourth-round picks to move back into the 2016 second round to draft kicker Roberto Aguayo.

The former Florida State kicker didn't help his cause much when he appeared on Pro Football Talk Live and admitted that he may not be as experienced as Bucs' fans hope.

"The coldest I've ever kicked in I want to say is probably about 50 degrees (fahrenheit)," Aguayo said. "I mean to tell you the truth I haven't really kicked in cold-weather games ... I think I'm up for the task. All the teams asked me that question, and I told them you know the coldest is probably 50 degrees and I'm willing to adapt. That's all it takes is just adapting to the cold and just going out there and getting it done."

He won't have to deal with much cold weather as a rookie, as Tampa Bay has just two outdoor road games in the second half of the season and one of them is in San Diego. Aguayo's cold-weather ability will likely be put to the test Week 11 as his team faces the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium.

It's a nice breath of fresh air to hear a professional athlete admit their shortcomings, but he remains quite confident in his abilities. His draft position sets him up to face a lot of critics, which he welcomes.

"There's going to be critics everywhere, you know?" Aguayo said. "I think the Buccaneers and the coaching staff here made the right decision. I think you're just going have to wait until the season gets here. ... I think in the future that there's going to be a lot more draft picks used on good kickers, and I think the kickers are going to change the game."
