U.S. Bank Stadium is almost ready for football.

The Minnesota Vikings' new home took another major step toward completion Tuesday, when the installation of 132,000 square feet of turf officially got underway.

Minnesota's first home game in the state-of-the-art facility will be a preseason game against the San Diego Chargers on Aug. 28.

After kicking off the regular season on the road, the Vikings will return home for a Sunday night matchup with the Green Bay Packers in Week 2.
