Cowboys instruct Elliott to slow down after slipping in practice

Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott briefly caused his coaches to panic during the team's rookie minicamp.

Elliott, selected fourth overall out of Ohio State, fell down after making a cut while going through a drill. Although the 20-year-old running back resumed practicing without further incident, the Cowboys carried forward with extreme caution.

"We don't need that," Cowboys running back coach Gary Brown said to ESPN's Todd Archer. "That's why I told him to slow down a little bit."

Elliott starred during the rest of the practice, and is looking forward to getting acquainted with his new team.

"The draft process is crazy with the combine and then the draft part (with) all the traveling and not really having a home," Elliott said. "So it's a relief to finally be able to have a stable environment and do what you love and that's play ball."

Entering his rookie season, Elliott is expected to become a key pillar of the offense for years to come, so there's little surprise that the Cowboys are closely monitoring his prognosis during the camp.
