Teammate thinks Bradford will return to Eagles soon

With Sam Bradford in the midst of an extended pout about the Philadelphia Eagles trading up to draft quarterback Carson Wentz, many are wondering when he'll return to the team's offseason workouts.

Teammate Connor Barwin doesn't believe he'll force the team's hand with a trade and should return to run the Eagles offense shortly.

"From my conversation with him, it sounded like he is coming back sooner rather than later, so we'll wait and see," Barwin said on The Mike and Ike Show. "I know he'll be here for the mandatory stuff. But, again, this is just my casual conversation with him. You guys will have plenty of time to talk to him, and he can show up when he wants to be here."

Barwin confirmed the well-known acrimony between Bradford and the team originated from being blindsided by the Wentz move after he re-signed a lucrative two-year contract with the team.

"I spoke to him, and I'll let him come out and speak to you guys and say what he has to say or wants to say, but I think, obviously, he maybe didn't see it coming and was surprised by it," Barwin said of the team's moves to draft Wentz. "But I expect him to be back in the next week or two and be the starting quarterback next year."

As the plan dictates, Bradford is expected to start this season, while Wentz develops and is mentored by the former No. 1 overall pick. Barwin says the locker room is behind that plan.

"All of us see Sam as the starter for the next year or two to kind of help mentor the kid and show him the ropes," Barwin said. "... But Carson will be the quarterback of the future in the long term."
