Cardale Jones: I thought Bills draft call was a prank

Matthew Emmons / USA TODAY Sports

Cardale Jones had one of the more memorable celebrations during the 2016 NFL Draft, ripping off his shirt like Hulk Hogan following his phone call from the Buffalo Bills in the fourth round.

Jones shed some light on why he was so elated to finally be selected, when speaking with WGR 550 radio in Niagara Falls, N.Y. on Monday.

"I'm not going to lie, I haven't even told the coaches this. I thought it was a prank call because I was getting calls from weird numbers all day," Jones said. "I'd answer and they'd hang up.

"So I didn't believe it until it went across the screen. I was in my room watching, then I stepped out to the front to watch with my family and then my name popped up on the bottom of the screen ... I guess they were expecting me to see a weird number and think I'm getting drafted by that team ... It wasn't a great feeling."

Jones isn't expected to get on the field much as a rookie, but will be developed to hopefully start for the Bills in the future.
