Cincinnati Bengals cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick underwent surgery to correct a shoulder injury two months ago, a source told ESPN's Coley Harvey.
Kirkpatrick reportedly played through the injury for the vast majority of the 2015 season after suffering the ailment in a Week 3 contest against the Baltimore Ravens.
Although surgery was presented as an option early on, the 26-year-old elected to undergo the procedure after the season, Harvey reports.
Kirkpatrick recorded a career-high 70 tackles last season, but will challenge for his place in the starting lineup after the Bengals selected cornerback William Jackson with their 2016 first-round pick.
