Rams' Alec Ogletree: Fifth-year option exercised

Ogletree's fifth-year option has been picked up by the Rams, NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reports.

Analysis:

Ogletree was limited to only four games played last year due to a fractured fibula suffered in October, but was rather productive through his first two NFL seasons, totaling 230 tackles, 10 forced fumbles, and three interceptions over that span. Although he'll be coming back from injury this year, he's expected to start at middle linebacker for the Rams, who released long-time defender James Laurinaitis earlier this offseason. Along with that move, Los Angeles' decision to exercise Ogletree's option provides a further vote a confidence that he'll remain a key contributor through the 2017 campaign.
