The Indianapolis Colts announced Monday that the team has released center Khaled Holmes.

Holmes was selected by the Colts in the fourth round of the 2013 NFL Draft, but was never able to cement himself as the team's future at the position.

He started nine games in 2015, but with the Colts adding Ryan Kelly in the first round, Austin Blythe in the seventh round, and with Jonotthan Harrison better suited to a move to guard than Holmes, the 26-year-old became the most expendable offensive lineman on the roster.

The Colts also announced the release of tight end Cameron Clear, long snapper Forrest Hill, and offensive tackle Mitchell Van Dyk.
