Dolphins' Jay Ajayi: Could face some competition from rookie

Ajayi will face competition from Kenyan Drake, who was selected in the third round of the 2016 NFL Draft at No. 73 overall, the Dolphins' official website reports.

Analysis:

Drake's selection can actually be taken as a positive development for Ajayi, who still figures to open training camp as the lead dog in a backfield that's utterly lacking in proven talent. Drake will likely compete for a role similar to the one he had at the University of Alabama, where he typically spelled T.J. Yeldon and then Derrick Henry, in addition to handling most of the passing-down work. The Dolphins could still make things interesting by adding a veteran from the free-agent market, though there isn't much of interest remaining besides a 29-year-old Arian Foster (Achilles).
