Chiefs exercise Eric Fisher's 5th-year option

The Kansas City Chiefs have exercised their fifth-year contract option on offensive tackle Eric Fisher, the team announced.

Fisher was the Chiefs' first overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft out of Central Michigan. The 25-year-old has started 43 of his 46 career games through three seasons.

The offensive tackle has been viewed as a disappointing No. 1 selection, having subpar performances and losing his starting job out of camp last season before regaining it in Week 3.

Though he hasn't been the superstar teams look for with the draft's top pick, the 2013 class as a whole has been quite disappointing. Only two of the top 17 picks from the class have made a Pro Bowl appearance.

Fisher projects to start at left tackle again for the Chiefs next season.
