Texans' Hopkins happy with WR draft picks: 'Ain't no more double teams baby!'

In 2015, wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins carried the Houston Texans' passing game on his back.

Hopkins had 111 catches for 1,521 yards and 11 touchdowns last season, with his nearest teammate, Nate Washington, contributing 47 catches for 658 yards and four touchdowns.

With a lack of other threats on the outside, defenses zeroed in on Hopkins. They likely won't be able to repeat the tactic in 2016, however, after the Texans added explosive receivers Will Fuller and Braxton Miller through the draft. There appears to be no one happier about that than Hopkins:

Head coach Bill O'Brien said teams will still likely focus on Hopkins until the young wideouts prove they're worthy of extra attention,

"First of all, these guys need to come in and do it, so that he doesn't get double teamed," O'Brien said, according to Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle. "Until they actually go out there and do it - and that's what they're going to come in here and do - there will be some double teams on a guy that caught 111 balls. He's a great player. You know, I think one of the things that we looked at was, in some way, shape or form, trying to give him some help.

"Trying to get it where he could be more one-on-one and things like that. I think that's what we've done with this offensive skill draft class. We've taken some guys that we think can really help us in space, help us at the receiver position and help us do a lot of different things, which in turn will help DeAndre and free him up a little bit more."

Houston also added running back Lamar Miller and quarterback Brock Osweiler in free agency, so the Texans could have their most talented offense in recent memory.
