Seahawks ink former TCU quarterback Trevone Boykin

Ray Carlin-USA TODAY Sports

The Seattle Seahawks have had success with an undersized quarterback who dominated the college ranks in the past, and hope history repeats itself with Trevone Boykin.

The former TCU star joined the club as an undrafted free agent Saturday in a move that could clear up the murky backup quarterback situation in the Pacific Northwest.

Russell Wilson, the aforementioned undersized quarterback, is the only pivot currently on the team's roster, so acquiring at least one undrafted free agent was a no-brainer for general manager John Schneider.

At 6-feet and 212 pounds, Boykin is almost the exact same size as Wilson, and actually posted better stats in college than the NFL star.

During his final season at TCU, the Texas native threw for 3,574 yards and 31 touchdowns. His fall in the draft can likely be attributed to an arrest for assault in a bar fight ahead of the Alamo Bowl.
