Jets GM denies report of trade discussions for Nick Foles

The New York Jets are insisting that their focus in addressing the quarterback position is to re-sign Ryan Fitzpatrick.

General manager Mike Maccagnan said as much as during a draft press conference Saturday, denying a report that the team was in talks to acquire Nick Foles from the Los Angeles Rams.

"Our focus, from the pro standpoint, is to get Ryan (Fitzpatrick) back in the fold," Maccagnan said, according to Darryl Slater of NJ Advance Media.

"Nothing has changed from that standpoint. We've been very public about that. You go through the process of just being prepared for alternative things that may arise. But I would say, simply, to dispel anything, we're not at this point in time in discussions with any other teams for any other quarterbacks. At least I can put that to bed at this point in time."

While it's certainly possible that New York hasn't discussed a trade for Foles, there aren't many other options if the team and Fitzpatrick are unable to reach common ground.

Foles will presumably be made available for trade after the Rams selected Jared Goff with the No. 1 overall pick Thursday.
