Jerry Jones confirms Greg Hardy won't return to Cowboys

Ray Carlin-USA TODAY Sports

Following the second day of the 2016 NFL Draft, Jerry Jones confirmed what everyone already expected, Greg Hardy won't return to the Dallas Cowboys next season.

Head coach Jason Garrett strongly hinted that the embattled defensive end wouldn't be on the Cowboys' roster during the NFL combine in February, and now the news is official that he will be elsewhere for the 2016 season.

Jones' decision to bring Hardy aboard last season was met with great criticism, as the 6-foot-5, 280-pounder has a graphic domestic assault case in his past. Hardy certainly did nothing to endear himself to the public during his tenure with Dallas, but was a standout player on the field, registering six sacks in 12 games.

Dez Bryant openly called for Hardy to return to the team in 2016, but Jeremy Mincey admitted his presence in the locker room caused some tension.

Whether Hardy ends up with another team is up in the air at this point. His pass-rushing skills would definitely help any defense, but the baggage that comes with his signing may deter anyone from taking the chance.
