Top pick Goff calls himself 'good fit' for Rams

The Los Angeles Rams felt they needed to make a big splash in their return to one of the biggest markets in the country, and they did so by selecting a California boy with the first overall pick.

While it was generally considered a lock for Jared Goff to be taken No. 1 leading up to the draft, the Rams let the suspense build during their allotted 10 minutes to enter their selection. Head coach Jeff Fisher and general manager Les Snead were immediately shown celebrating the pick in their war room, but how does Goff feel he'll fare with the Rams?

"I think I'm a good fit," Goff said on Thursday. "I think how I felt with them and how they felt with me, I think there was similar thoughts about the way the game works and I'm just excited to go down there and get a chance to work with them."

Goff went on to say it was an "unbelievable moment" for him, despite Fisher's admission that he may have tipped off the Cal product in a text exchange earlier in the day.

"Then I asked him if he had any plans tonight," Fisher said. "He said, 'No, I don't have anything going.' I said, 'Good, maybe we'll talk later.'"

Pairing Goff with Todd Gurley and Tavon Austin gives the Rams a trio to build around for the future, and Fisher isn't doubting the rookie quarterback's ability to make the entire offensive group better.

"Jared has a skill set that is special," Fisher said. "He's got a quick release, he understands the quarterback position, he's going to get rid of the football and he's competitive. Once you look at his body of work in the red zone, it's impressive. He keeps drives alive. Nothing is too big for him."
