Frederick had his fifth-year option exercised by the Cowboys, ESPN's Todd Archer reports.

Analysis:

The move keeps Frederick in a Cowboy uniform through 2017. He was Dallas' highly scrutinized first-round selection in 2013, though has proved to be more than worthy of his draft pedigree. The Wisconsin product has been selected to two Pro Bowls in three years, has yet to miss a single contest, and is a key cog in Dallas' premier offensive line, while shaping up to be one of the best centers in the league. In 2014, Dallas signed bookend tackle Tyron Smith to an eight-year extension one year after picking up his fifth-year option. Look for Jerry Jones and company to proceed in a similar fashion with Frederick.
