Falcons pick up 5th-year option on Trufant

The Atlanta Falcons have exercised the fifth-year option on Desmond Trufant, keeping the cornerback under contract through the 2017 season.
The Falcons had until May 2 to pick up the option, which will pay him $8.026 million in 2017.
Trufant, the No. 22 overall pick of the 2013 draft, was named to the Pro Bowl last season for the first time in his career after recording 42 tackles, 11 passes defensed, one interception, one sack, two fumble recoveries, and a defensive touchdown.
